We arose late, for us, after 7. As we
walked into the lounge it was a WOW moment, The light was beautiful
and the water was so calm. It is a shame I did not catch the pelicans
flying by at that moment.
We breakfasted in front of the view and
of course lingered. Spoke to Alan the owner for a while, solving the
world's ills, as you do. Eventually other people started to come into
the view, looking for a boat ride to the dolphins, so we decided to
leave....a walk to the mouth of Baird Bay was called for.
It was truly lovely along the
waterline. We followed the roo track along the shore and shared the
bay with gulls and oyster catchers and red capped plovers and ruddy
turnstones. Marjan picked a few shells, I took may photos.
At the end of the bay it got rocky so
we went inland for a bit to see out along the coast. The wild flowers
were lovely. We even had some prostrate gums in flower. Off the edge
of the head we could see colourful crabs and the granite underlying
the limestone that we saw a couple of days ago.
We saw the tour boat out near the
mouth of the bay, looking for dolphins and sea lions. That will be us
tomorrow. We have been told that will be the best weather.
We realised we had been gone about two
hours so we headed back along the beach. More shells, more birds and
more wind now. Still a pleasant day out on the beach.
We came back for lunch tired and Marie
Anne decided an afternoon with her book was called for.
