The Ooodnadatta Track – Tick

OK folks it's Birdsville next.

Feeling cocky because today was actually an easy run. We left Oodnadatta at about 8:15 and got to Marla a little before 1pm. Partially that was because the roads were pretty good.......or at least pretty good as compared to the past two days, and partially because there was a lot less to see.

Basically we stopped for wildlife and once for wildlife and a morning tea picnic by a creek. The countryside was different, more trees, more red, more rock......lots more rock.....had some quite rocky sections of road. A very different feel to the country, different trees and plants. It looked less arid, though it was not in actual fact.

SO a few highlights.......the hand painted sign that read “Plenty Cows Next 20Km”......a wedge tail eagle sitting in a tree pleasantly with another bird.........a goanna, well lace monitor is their name now, wandering along as calm as could be.....morning tea by a creek........Marjan yelling at me for not listening to her( Really! Do I listen to anyone?).

Probably could have flown on by to Kulgera and saved some time getting to Yulara (Uluru(Ayers Rock(Marjan took out the apostrophe I thought it had) (oh it gets bloody complicated))) tomorrow, but I had booked so we stayed and enjoyed the pool

Marjan, Raf and the Car With No Name did Ooodnadatta.......in the wet........some truly beautiful things along the way, some great characters and did I tell you that OZ is big, really big?

I have been asked why the Car With No Name, well potentially I might be asked!. Well the Horse With No Name from a few posts back is part of it, but our last two main cars have had names, the Subie is the first without a name for a while. Hence........as if you care!

Marjan says that no responsibility for the stupidity of this blog will be accepted by the management of the Sanchez Holiday Enterprises Corporation.

Goanna, Marjan and I have very different opinions on size.....so we will keep size out of it.
